Field Trip
The field tour will consist of a trip through the Sandhills visiting multiple sites that support sharp-tailed grouse and greater prairie chicken populations in north central Nebraska. Speakers at each tour stop will discuss habitat attributes, management objectives and strategies, and ongoing restoration efforts. Highlighted spots will include federal public lands managed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (Valentine National Wildlife Refuge) and U.S. Forest Service (Samuel R. McKelvie National Forest), and privately owned lands. The tour will last approximately 4-6 hours with lunch and drinks provided. More details will be provided later. Old school buses will be used for transportation during the tour.
